As my fellow music fans would know, the MTV VMAs were on this week, and nostalgia was the unofficial theme. Sabrina Carpenter kissed an alien, Taylor Swift hugged Flava Flav, Chappell Roan went medieval, each took home the much coveted moon men, and Katy Perry was honored with the Video Vanguard award. 

Several live performances of the night were from VMA first timers, including Benson Boone and Chappell Roan. Others came from artists returning from hiatus, namely Shawn Mendes and Halsey.
