Last night, fans everywhere found themselves up at midnight craving some more “Espresso.” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Short n’ Sweet” has hit streaming services, and its genre fusions are particularly interesting for a pop star.
If you caught my breakdown of Carpenter’s discography in Billboard yesterday, you’d know that the singer started out as a Disney Channel star, and thus dropped four albums under the conglomerate’s Hollywood Records prior to signing with Island Records for her 2022 “emails i can’t send.” While the Disney machine is known to churn out a squeaky clean family friendly image for its young audiences, Carpenter’s early work still has all of the makings of the artist she has become today.
