Yes, JLo is still in the news, this time, for low ticket sales amid the fallout of her musical film. If you are a member of the chronically online, you’ve probably been seeing tons of JLo content over the past month or so. It all points to her self-financed project “This Is Me…Now” and its accompanying documentary “The Greatest Love Story Never Told” (spoiler alert, she told it anyway).
The film and documentary are largely being met with criticism from viewers, and mixed reactions in critical circles. Over a month after the corresponding films’ release on Amazon Prime, hundreds of people continue to come forward on TikTok with negative accounts of their encounters with the multi-hyphenate performer.
But the larger conversation, apart from negative allegations regarding her personal character and treatment of dancers and wait staff, is that she exaggerated her humble beginnings in New York City’s Bronx borough. Known colloquially as “Jenny From the Block,” the boricua dancer turned actress and singer frequently mentions her childhood as one of three daughters in a Puerto Rican family in the Castle Hill neighborhood.
